2024 GRAC Gingerbread House Competition Rules

1. All Gingerbread Houses must be 100% edible candy/embellishments/materials except for lights ‘inside/outside’ the house. (Lights must be battery operated.) Non-edible support structure material other than the baseboard may not be used. No artificial interior materials, such as Styrofoam or wood, are to be used to construct or decorate the house.

2. All materials must be shelf stable (no refrigeration required).

3. All entries must be placed on a baseboard of plastic, cardboard, or wood.

4. All designs must be original. Premade kits may be used by YOUTH PARTICIPANTS ONLY!

5. Entries must be solely constructed by the individual(s) entering the competition. Teen and Youth competitors may be supervised, for safety precautions, by a parent, legal guardian, or classroom teacher. Example: assistance with operating a stove top or oven.

6. Only one gingerbread house per entrant either solo or business.

7. Please include your name and gingerbread house title on the bottom of the base gingerbread house on base.


Gingerbread houses must be dropped off December 3rd and 4th at the GRAC between 1 and 8 PM. Houses will be on display at Polar Express on December 7th. People's Choice $1 votes will end on the 8th. Winners for each category and People's Choice will be announced on December 10th. Houses must be picked up by December 12th. Any house not picked up by 8 PM on December 12th will be discarded.
