About: Gary spent many years as a performing artist with various bands throughout central Kentucky, but he never seriously considered the possibility of painting as a creative outlet for himself. At friend’s continued suggestions, in 2017 he decided that he would try his hand at painting as a new creative outlet. Williams started with watercolors as he had always liked his mother-in-laws watercolor artwork. After purchasing some inexpensive watercolor paints, paper, and brushes, and watching a few YouTube tutorials on techniques and styles, he began his education in this artistry. No one is more surprised at this discovery than Gary. He still considers himself a hobbyist, but has discovered that painting is an educational tool for many aspects of life beyond the canvas. While he still has so much to learn, he has been fortunate to experience many personal milestones and life lessons during his brief time in this. He does not title his finished pieces, other than giving them a number in the order in which they were completed. Gary does this in order to allow the viewer to develop their own impressions of the piece without any attempt to direct them with a biased title. He enjoys the process of developing ideas and experimenting with new concepts as much as the physical act of painting. He says there is a unique sense of accomplishment when you are able to take an intangible vision through the process to a visual manifestation of your ideas. Practice - Patience - Perseverance.
