Emmy J Pugh

Specializes in Acrylic, Gouache, Fabric, Sewing, Jewelry

About: Emmy considers herself an Appalachian Folk Artist. She learned how to sew from her grandmother growing up in Eastern Kentucky. The majority of her work centers around expressive pieces that are like patch work of the culture that raised her. Emmy grew up in the very small town of Frenchburg, Kentucky which borders both Caverun Lake and the Red River Gorge. She takes inspiration from both of these places in her work. She learned how to paint from watching Bob Ross episodes at her grandmother's house as a child and moving through her adult life she has used his methods of painting to create her own art. Pugh attended two semesters at Morehead State University but her skills have largely been self taught or taught by family. She pays homage to the kind people who have helped her along her life path of being an artist and wishes to use her skills to create a brighter future for the world.
